The Official DSCDP Rules
The complete official rules and point system will be posted here, and are subject to change at any time.

It is the responsibility of the Funeral home member to periodically review all the rules that follow:
  • Thou shalt not murder thy picks. League members are hereby forbidden from harming, murdering, or in any manner affecting the general health or well-being of any celebrity. League members that do not adhere to this rule will be expelled from Doug Stanhope’s Celebrity Death Pool (DSCDP) permanently and shall be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
  • DSCDP takes no responsibility for the death, dismemberment, harm, diminishment of well-being of any celebrity.
  • Only approved celebrities in the DSCDP database will be allowed for picks. Per Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, a celebrity is “a famous or celebrated person”. Celebrity can be from the genre of sports, movies, music, TV, media, entertainment, radio, comedy, government (foreign and domestic), person of national/world interest, inventors, etc., but must be a known celebrity. Picking the mayor of the little town you grew up in will not work, unless that person has received national attention.
  • In the event that one of your celebrities is not in the DSCDP database, you can (1) request the DSCDP officers to review your pick for the validity of that celebrity’s status, or (2) choose another celebrity that is in the database.
  • You pick twenty (20) celebrities per Funeral Home you are in.
  • Duration of the Funeral home (game time) will be from January 15th – December 31st. Creation of a Funeral home can be from Jan. 15th – Oct. 31st.
  • When one of your celebrities dies, their age is deducted from 100 and the remainder is the amount of points you receive for that pick, plus any bonus points that may apply. If your dead pick is over 100 years old, you will be deducted a point for every year over the age of 100.
  • The basic formula is: (100 - Age) + All Applicable Bonus Points = Total Score
  • To receive points for your pick, the celebrity picked must die during game time.
  • If rulings on bonus points occur after game time, those bonus points will not apply.
  • Picking the same celebrity twice in the same Funeral Home is not allowed.
  • Picking a celebrity inmate on Death Row is allowed...under these rules:
    1. If your inmate dies from scheduled execution, you get NO points
    2. If your inmate dies for any other reason, you WILL get points (including all applicable bonuses...sucide, murder, etc.)
    3. You may pick your inmate even during the year of scheduled execution. This is YOUR gamble (See rule #1)
    4. Your inmate must be very high-profile, so there will be a VERY strict vetting process for petitions
  • Only human celebrities are allowed to be picked. No animals.
  • Conjoined twins shall be considered as one (1) pick for each twin.
  • Only one celebrity per pick. Example – You cannot pick a band, such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as much as some of us might want to.
  • Tiebreakers – All tiebreakers will be determined by the Funeral Director of each individual Funeral home, not by the DSCDP Administrators.
  • Any and all funds paid to DSCDP for the purpose of joining or creating a Funeral Home shall be non-refundable.
  • All rulings made by the DSCDP Admins will be final.
  • Payment for Homes shall be paid by the Funeral Director setting up the Home.
  • Notifications – All DSCDP members can be notified by email periodically throughout the duration of the Funeral Home with updates on their Funeral Home, updates on the DSCDP, upcoming changes to the DSCDP, promotions, etc.
  • No league member shall upload any material that is deemed illegal or pornographic in nature.
    1. Trade Rounds are a 24 hour period on the 15th of every month where mourners can drop 1 celebrity from their list and add another celebrity
    2. Trade Rounds occur begin at 10:00 AM UTC (regardless of time zone) and end at 10:00 AM UTC the following day
    3. Step-by-Step Trading
      • STEP 1: Drop one of your current celebrties
        • Go to the 'My Funeral Homes' tab and then click into one of your homes
        • Click the 'View Picks' button next to your username
        • Click the 'Trade' button next to the celebrity you want to DROP
        • You will be asked to confirm your drop
      • STEP 2: Add a new celebrtiy
        • Go to the 'Celebrity Search' tab and search for the new celebrity
        • Click the 'Pick Me' button next to the celebrity you want. The pop-up box will display your available options
        • Alternatively, you can go to your 'Watch List' tab to find a celebrity
        • Again, click the 'Pick Me' button next to the celebrity you want
      • STEP 3: You are done for that Trade Round
    4. IMPORTANT Things to Know
      • Trade Rounds are completely OPTIONAL
      • You can drop ANY of your own currently living picks, including your SOLOs
      • During Trade Rounds the other mourner's picks in your home will be hidden from your view
      • You cannot pick up any other mourners' celebrities within your Funeral Home if that celebrity is on another mourners' list at the time that the Trade Round opens. However, ANY celebrities dropped by other mourners in your Funeral Home during the Trade Round can be picked IF no other mourner in your home has that pick.
        • Example 1: If a mourner drops their SOLO pick, you are free to pick it up, unless another mourner beats you to it.
        • Example 2: If 10 mourners all have the same pick, and they ALL drop that pick, you are free to pick it up until another mourner beats you to it.
      • At any time you can click the 'View Picked Celebrities' link near the top of your Funeral Home page to see a list of celebrities you can NOT pick.
      • During Trade Rounds multiple mourners within your home MAY happen to pick the same celebrity. REMEMBER, you are blind to other mourners' picks until the Trade Round is over, so you won't know whether or not your pick is a SOLO until then.
      • Once you drop a celebrity and pick a new one, that trade is FINAL. You will have to wait for the next Trade Round to make another trade
      • Participating in Trade Rounds is a GAMBLE
        • If your newly drafted celebrity dies DURING the trade round in which he/she was picked, NO POINTS WILL BE AWARDED
        • If your newly drafted celebrity dies during the trade round in which he/she was picked, you still have until the end of the Trade Round to select another celebrity OR YOU WILL LOSE THAT SPOT
        • NOTE: DSCDP may not know about a celebrity death until AFTER the Trade Round ends. In that case, you will NOT receive point AND will be stuck with that empty spot. THIS IS THE GAMBLE YOU TAKE!
        • If you drop a celeb and forget to add another before the Trade Round ends, YOU WILL LOSE THAT SPOT. In other words, you will be playing with one less celebrity for the rest of the game
      • The timer you see will be counting down to the start of the next trade round
      • During the trade round, the timer will count down to the end of the trade round (24 hour period)
    6. SCENARIO - New Solo Assessment
      • Mourner A and Mourner B are the only two mourners in the same home who currently have Willie Nelson
      • Mourner A drops Willie to pick up another celeb
      • Mourner B now has a SOLO pick for Willie
